Education Summer Camps

The River Institute provides educational experiences that motivate, encourage and inspire young people to pursue in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) fields.   

Junior Scientist Camp 2024

Since 1997 the St. Lawrence River Institute of Environmental Sciences has provided local youth with the opportunity to explore nature. The Jr. Scientist Camp challenges participants to learn about science and the natural environment in a hands-on, minds-on manner. This camp is offered at the River Institute for two weeks in July from 9 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday and is for children ages 11 to 14  who want to dive deeper into science. Participants experience environmental biology by assisting the River Institute’s scientists with their ongoing research initiatives. 

Eco Friends Camp 2024

The Eco Friends Camp is a week-long day camp that challenges participants to learn about science and the natural environment in a hands-on, minds-on manner. This camp is offered at Cooper Marsh Conservation Area for two exciting weeks in July, 9 am to 4 pm Monday to Friday, and is for children ages 7-10. Activities include a combination of hiking, frog catching, pond dipping, games, crafts, scientific experiments and much more.
